OUR Inclusion Bases

The Inclusion Bases at Wyndham Park Infants’ School and St Mark’s Junior School are a very special part of our schools and of the Trust as a whole. They provide a unique and nurturing environment where children can benefit from both specialist and mainstream expertise, ensuring that their individual needs are understood, supported and celebrated throughout their primary school journey from ages 4 to 11.

Our Inclusion Bases are part of a unique collaboration across the Trust. Staff share their knowledge, skills and expertise to provide a rich and supportive experience for every child. This includes specialist input and support from Exeter House Special School, alongside the extensive mainstream experience within Wyndham Park and St Mark’s.

Specialist Provision

Between the two schools, our Inclusion Bases provide specialist provision for three groups of 10 children at each school:

  • Wyndham Park Infants’ School – supporting children aged 4–7 years
  • St Mark’s Junior School – supporting children aged 7–11 years

All children who attend an Inclusion Base have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and have social communication needs and/or Autism (ASC).

Our Inclusion Bases are designed for children who benefit from a level of specialist support and provision beyond what can usually be offered within a mainstream classroom, but who do not require a special school placement. This enables children to access highly personalised support while remaining part of a mainstream school community.

Every child is unique, and our pupils have a wide range of strengths, abilities and communication styles. Most children communicate verbally, while some use communication aids to support their communication. Our pupils generally have good physical mobility and independence.

Working Together

The Inclusion Bases are led by Faye O’Gorman, who oversees the provision and ensures that the bases work closely together across both schools and the wider Trust.

Our aim is to create an environment where every child feels safe, valued and included, can develop their independence and confidence and is supported to achieve their full potential.
